After opening out and packing away the first one, I tried it out on the second Hifold and it took me a matter of seconds to get it up, and also to get it packed away again. It’s best to be used in the back of a car rather than the front and the added bonus to this is that you can fit three in a row which you absolutely couldn’t in most cars with most car seats.

The ingenious Trunki Boostapak, for example, offers a sturdy booster that can also be used as a kid’s rucksack, while offering ad hoc safety when you’re on the move. TraveLynn Family were gifted two mifold Comforts for our Morocco travels in exchange for this honest review and social media promotion. However, evidence shows high-backed Group 2/3 (booster) car seats offer a higher level of protection compared to backless boosters (booster cushions), so we recommend you use a high-backed booster seat for as long as you can. Then pull the lap belt through the guides and then clip the positioning strap so the clip sits approximately 1 inch above your child’s shoulder. If you are looking for a travel booster and your child has a more sturdy body build, the Mifold may work well for you. mifold takes up to 30 second Both products are definitely a great solution for globetrotters and for those who need a practical, easy and safe solution.

Instead of lifting the child to an adult position like other booster on the market, mifold does the exact opposite. Our son is 8 and 46 pounds and within the recommended age and weight range for the Mifold, but for him and others the belt slung lower on the hips than is recommended by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for booster seats. mifold is a Group 2/3 ‘Universal’ child restraint system suitable for children four years and up, weighing between 15kg and 36kg. Having used both the Mifold and Hifold Seats we would recommend these seats for different situations. I’ve always packed light as a traveller, so you can imagine my frustration when the babies came along and suddenly we needed to take so much more stuff to the airport!Adjusting the seatbelt positioner is also tricky, and our little testers had significant trouble buckling the seatbelt because the mifold bottom gets in the way of the buckle. These belt guides are adjustable to three sizes to make sure that the belt is always held snugly in place. Invented from his own needs of being a parent of four, Jon Sumroy has transformed a simple idea into a successful product – mifold, the Grab-and-Go Booster Seat. The seat feels nice, but the anti-slip fabric isn't soft and still slips out from under kids while driving, negating the reason for the less-than-desirable material. After years of lugging a backbreakingly heavy car seat through airports and transferring it from car to car when visiting with friends, the idea of a tiny, foldable, compact and portable booster seat seemed too good to be true.

So like a regular booster, mifold holds the seat belt in exactly the correct position on the bones of the hips and the bones of the shoulder, without needing a big, bulky seat to lift the child. The mifold is hard to use and keep positioned correctly, with the lap belt retainers sliding in and out when you don't want them to. I realise it’s not for everyone and lots of friends of mine are perfectly happy with their little ones to be in a regular booster seat but for me it is something I just can’t decide to use on a regular basis.

S.’s Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards FMVSS 213, which governs the performance and design criteria of child restraint systems for kids up to 80 pounds, and it meets or exceeds regulatory standards worldwide (excluding Australia). Many travel boosters are simple seats that ‘boost’ the child’s height, so that the car’s seatbelt is easier to use. the European standard for car seats, mifold’s ground-breaking design combines both convenience and safety. No such problems would exist with the easily cleanable/removable Mifold, given that – opened out – it is about the size of an iPad. We were looking for something comfortable but we also needed something that we could easily fold down and travel with.

It’s also the PERFECT solution to going away on holiday where taking a big child’s car seat is impractical and often costly. They reluctantly gave up their old high back boosters in our car at home when the baby arrived because it was impossible to fit them in the back of the car with the huge baby car seat. By the third car trip Mrs T was able to undo the seat belt and second attachment herself when we reached our destination. You need to really remind your kids to sit straight when using this seat – much more policing required. Whether packing away to take on holiday for use in a hire car, or simply being a lightweight space saver in a smaller motor, or for using with three children, the idea of Mifold immediately appealed to me.In rotas for the school run, with grandparents or other relatives, in taxis, on holiday, in rental cars and so on. While the Mifold booster fits on most cars, if you have a curved-back seat, it’s going to be problematic.
