Suspects fawn over him much less, and in fact, LaBelle gets a laugh out of everybody at his expense.

Sturgis, by contrast, is a comfort-eating, grouchy, workaholic, gay detective whose experiences haven’t stopped him from being a kind boss or a generous tipper. Obviously, I enjoy the investigative duo of Detective Milo Sturgis and psychologist Delaware, as well as all the supporting characters and look forward to each new addition. Kellerman’s descriptions are particularly picturesque and entertaining and he always seems to put a fresh spin on cases, although I wasn’t as fond of number 38 as some of the prior in the series.Translated by Quentin Bates — The Dancer is Icelandic author Óskar Guðmundsson’s second book translated into English, following The Commandments in 2021. The 38th installment of the Alex Delaware series and he is once again paired up with Milo Sturgess and consulting on a murder. Kellerman, a trained psychologist, brings authenticity to his thoughtful protagonist, as well as a genuine touch of humanity. Alex Delaware and his longtime friend and colleague Los Angeles Police Detective Milo Sturgis are older, wiser and perhaps a titch more cynical, but otherwise it's pretty much same old, same old - just the way I like it. With his wife, bestselling novelist Faye Kellerman, he co-authored Double Homicide and Capital Crimes .

We are—well, ask Bigfoot, as Brooks does in this delightful yarn, following on his bestseller World War Z (2006). Anyone who enjoys reading a police procedural, with a fascinating side of psychology, will love Unnatural History. Unnatural History by Jonathan Kellerman brings more than just murder and suspense to the 38th book in the Alex Delaware series.

As might be expected, the main appeal of these books is the personal relationships, especially the one between Alex and Milo. Alex Delaware and Milo Sturgis are back with the latest strange case set in LA that has Milo seeking Alex’s psychological insights. Jonathan's first published book was a medical text, PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF CHILDHOOD CANCER, 1980.

Michaelides takes a literary turn in his latest novel, employing an unreliable narrator, the structure of classical drama, and a self-conscious eye to dismantling the locked-room mystery. This book will thrill fans of crime thrillers who relish a story with realistic and diverse characters. Decades later, the program, under the tutelage of one of Jonathan's former students, continues to break ground. Unnatural History still has the short, sharp crack of the pulp thriller, but when our narrator describes a witness’s clothes as looking like “an octopus wrapping itself around a sardine”, it stands out because his prose is usually full of similes like this, whereas 2023’s novel is more matter-of-fact.This face was narrow, delicately boned, the sweaty skin stretched drum-tight, and it remained still. This is the 38th book in the Alex Delaware series and while I haven’t read them all I have read several and I enjoy these characters a lot.
